Craft Books: Black Ants and Buddhists by Mary Cowhey
I read this book while studying the art of teaching social studies. Very thoughtful and thought provoking. Also a quick read! This book offers a new way of thinking about what young children are ready for in the classroom, and pushing them to deep critical thinkers as well as compassionate people. I was able to meet Mary Cowhey and hear her speak at Teacher's College. She is a very well spoken and intelligent educator. This book is unlike any of "trade book" I've read. Give it a try!
